Notes:

  1. All the above licence prices are per server. For multiple server licences, please contact Sales for the price

  2. The Home version is aimed at home users - This supports 5 users, but has reduced business functionality (eg no listserver, external autoresponders, LAN forwarding etc). See the help file for more details.

  3. The VPOP3 Plugin Pack works with any VPOP3 licence except the Home User licence, and is one price for all VPOP3 licence sizes.

To work out how many mailboxes you need. Simply add the number of users who will be accessing VPOP3 to the number of autoresponders that you will have, and that's the licence size you will need (email aliases, mailing lists & distribution lists do not count as users).

If you are also using LAN Forwarding, then the licence size you need may be larger - you need to take the larger of the number determined above, and the number of LAN forwarded addresses (if there are more than 25 LAN forwarded addresses, then count it as 25).

Upgrade Policy

  • To upgrade to a larger number of mailboxes, you must pay the difference in price plus Rs.950/=

  • Minor version upgrades (eg V2.0.0 to V2.1.0) are included free.

  • The upgrade from 1.x to 2.0 will be charged at 50% of the full price. (Unless you bought your VPOP3 licence on or after 1st January 2002 in which case you are eligible for a free upgrade). See here to for more details and to check your eligibility.

The VPOP3 upgrade policy with the recent release of V2.0.0.

This upgrade is classed as a Major upgrade, unlike all previous version upgrades of VPOP3 which have been classed as Minor upgrades. This is not necessarily because previous upgrades since 1996 have had only a few changes, but because we have not wished to charge for upgrades.

Our 'published' upgrade policy was that anyone who purchases a VPOP3 licence gets free Minor version upgrades and a free Major version upgrade if the purchase was made within 3 months of the Major upgrade being released.

We have decided that, because we do not really like charging for upgrades we will extend this free upgrade period back to the beginning of January 2002, so, in fact free upgrades will be available for licences purchased within 16 months before the Major upgrade was released in this case.

Also, at the same time as V2.0.0 is released we will be making our first price increase for over 3 years.

If you are not eligible for a free upgrade you will be able to purchase the upgrade to VPOP3 2.0.0 at 50% of the new standard retail price.

Note that it is NOT our intention to make regular charges for version upgrades, but we feel that in the 7 years since VPOP3 was initially launched it has been enhanced massively so we thought it was necessary to make a charge in this case.

Situation with previous licence size upgrades

There is a complication with licence size upgrades, or upgrades from VPOP3 Standard to VPOP3 Enterprise. For instance, if you purchased a 10 user VPOP3 licence in June 2000 and then upgraded it to 25 users in March 2002, does this count as a purchase before 2002 or a purchase afterwards?

We have decided that in this case the licence upgrade is eligible for a free upgrade, but the initial purchase isn't, but you need to upgrade the initial purchase to be able to get the free upgrade to the licence upgrade.
